Tamara Lapadatovic Death – The Serbian community in New York City is mourning the tragic loss of Tamara Lapadatovic and her boyfriend, Aleksandar Jokanovic, who were killed in a motorcycle accident on Sunday, October 13th.
Tamara, a 35-year-old native of Nis, Serbia, and Aleksandar, originally from Montenegro, were riding their motorbike on the Upper East Side when they collided with a Toyota RAV4 near 3rd Ave. and E. 103rd St. in Manhattan. Despite the swift response of first responders, both Tamara and Aleksandar were pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the RAV4 sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.
Following the devastating news, Tamara’s family established a GoFundMe campaign to bring her body back to Serbia for burial. The fundraiser has quickly surpassed its initial goal, raising over $70,000.
Similarly, a separate GoFundMe campaign has been launched to repatriate Aleksandar’s body to his home country. The campaign has garnered significant support, raising approximately $85,000 at the time of writing.
Tamara, a vibrant and beloved individual, was known for her positive spirit and unwavering kindness. Her loss has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and community. Aleksandar, too, was cherished by those who knew him.
As the Serbian community in New York City mourns the loss of these two young lives, the outpouring of support from friends, family, and strangers alike serves as a testament to their enduring legacy.
